Even though a great deal of the conversation will stem from the award winners and surprises, the Oscar night is often reviewed based on the pacing and its host. This year it seems that the show was widely viewed as slow and boring and its host Seth MacFarlane got tons of harsh comments for his offensive jokes.

MacFarlane drew a ton of heat for his sexist jokes and offensive deliveries. Writes Unna Mullaly of the Irish Times "In many ways, you'd almost be reluctant to dignify the idiocy of MacFarlane's sexist and lame 'jokes' at last night's Oscars, but it's also important to wonder what on earth anyone involved was thinking."

Eric Brown of the International Business Times notes that many expected MacFarlane to be offensive, but notes that the host went to far in some instances. The publication mentions the Abraham Lincoln joke in which the host stated "I'd argue that the actor who really got inside Lincoln's head was John Wilkes Booth," MacFarlane said. The audience was shocked at his comment. Brown also notes that "Ultimately, MacFarlane may not have been the worst Oscars host ever, but he was certainly close."

Mogul Donald Trump apparently stated that the event was "okay at best" during an interview on Fox News. Bryan Moylan of Hollywood.com added "This year, the show just seemed more tedious, filled with missed opportunities, some unfortunate technical difficulties, and a muddled tone."

Twitter users also thought the ceremony was languid.

@BenTinsley: Wow. Oscars were boring, wayy too long and insulting to women? Who'da thought? #DUH

‏@mary_erlina: The only fun part about watching the oscars is looking at all these pretty dresses

‏@wendy_bien: Haven't watched the Oscars in many years. Doubt I'd ever watch again. Read results on line in 1 min instead of watching 3+ hrs of boring tv.

@WhitneyCWimbish: Conservative choices, boring dresses. Racism. Misogyny. Oscars: What a drag. Why is this event a highlight of the American Year?

@TheMovieMind: Weak Oscars overall. Seth MacFarlane played it safe and was boring. He needed help from Capt. Kirk & pre-recorded bits for cryin out loud!

@chip_chops: @MBarby24 if I'd been trying to stay awake towatch it I would have snoozing away thirty minutes in, easy. More boring, Oscars or Elizabeth

@Inthefastlane13: Oscars were boring yet I did enjoy the men with beards. YUM. Guys take a tip, ladies love facial hair. And Ben..that's a man!!

@ChrisSoll48: This years ceremony was terribly boring and planned poorly. Major awards rushed together at the end. #Oscars

@Booker_J_Winter: BOOKER'S OPINION: BORING OSCARS. BIG YAWN-THOUGHT HE WAS WATCHING THE TONYS. NOT ENOUGH BOW TIES. FAILED FASHION AND TOO MANY SLOBS ON STAGE

‏@JappyPrincess: Dear interwebz do we really have to relive how boring the Oscars were? I think we all got that.

@timmerks: Oscars are pretty boring. Might play some Persona while I wait for@scratchrabbit to finish watching it. I'm waiting to watch walking dead
