On Feb. 23 the 28th annual Independent Spirit Awards will hand out their awards in Santa Monica.
The movies nominated for Best Film are "Moonrise Kingdim," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Bernie," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," and "Keep the Lights On."
"Breakfast with Curtis," Middle of Nowhere," "Mosquita and Mari," Starlet" and "The Color Wheel" will compete for the John Cassavetes Award for a feature with a budget under $500,000.
For the Best International Film Oscar nominees "Amour," "War Witch," will compete against "Rust and Bone," "Sister," and "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia."
Other films nominated for major awards including "Magic Mike," Killer Joe," "Starlet," Safety Not Guaranteed," "The Sessions," Compliance," and "Seven Psychopaths."
The Best Director nominees are Ira Sachs ("Keep the Lights On"), Wes Anderson ("Moonrise Kingdom"), Julia Loktov ("The Loneliest Planet"), David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook") and Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild").
Actors the nominated include Jennifer Lawrence ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Bradley Cooper ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Bruce Willis ("Moonrise Kingdom"), Michael Pena ("End of Watch"), Helen Hunt ("The Sessions"), John Hawkes ("The Sessions"), Matthew McConaughey ("Killer Joe" & "Magic Mike"), Sam Rockwell ("Seven Psychopaths"), Rosemarie Dewitt ("Your Sister's Sister"), Brit Marling ("Sound of my Voice") and Ann Dowd ("Compliance").
Awards previously announced were the Robert Altman accolade, which went to "Starlet." Adam Leon won Someone to Watch for his film "Gimme the Loot" and the Producers award was given to Mynette Louie for "Stones in the Sun." "The Waiting Room" won the Truer than Fiction award.
The ceremony will be hosted by actor Andy Samberg and will begin at 4:30 p.m. EST. The show will be broadcast on IFC channel at 10 p.m. EST.
