Aerosmith frontman and American Idol judge Steven Tyler said he spent millions of dollars on drugs.
Tyler, who has been battling drug addiction throughout his career, was asked during an interview on Australia's 60 Minutes if rumors of him spending $20 million on cocaine are true.
"No, probably, realistically 5 or 6 [million], easy," he answered, adding "But it doesn't matter. You could also say I've snorted half of Peru. It's what we did."
The 65-year-old sobered up in the 1980s but during treatment for hepatitis C he began abusing prescription drugs and eventually relapsed. Tyler admitted himself into the Betty Ford clinic in Dec. 2009 after a heavy binge on cocaine and pain meds. He says he has been sober ever since.
This isn't the first time Tyler spoke openly about his former drug habit. In a 2011 interview on Dateline, Tyler said while touring with Aerosmith in the 1970s and 80s the band was constantly supplied cocaine
"I needed that cocaine. I needed it," Tyler told host Matt Lauer
He says he has been in rehab eight times.
