The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to win their third straight when they take on the Boston Bruins.
The Lightning lost six straight before finally taking down the Florida Panther 6-5 on Feb. 16. In their latest match on Feb. 19, the team took down a solid Toronto Maple Leafs team 4-2. The Lightning got goals from Captain Vincent Lecavalier, Steven Stamkos, Matt Carle, and Alexander Killorn; goaltender Anders Lindback made 23 saves in the effort.
Despite the losing streak, most members of the Lightning thought that the team's play was solid and the win over Toronto was the result of hard work. "We keep talking about the process," Lightning head coach Guy Boucher said after the win over Toronto. "It's always about how we are going to continue progressing. We've been doing so many good things, we knew it was eventually going to pay off."
"We had a pretty solid game," Lecavalier added. "We played hard and overall had a really good game, and they played last night, so we took advantage of that."
Tampa Bay will take on a struggling Boston Bruins team that has won once in three tries. In that game, the Bruins blew a 1-0 lead and then tied after falling behind 2-1. The team eventually won the game on a power play goal from Brad Marchand just 38 seconds into the final frame. Prior to scoring the goal, Marchand had broken in alone on goal and was tripped.
"I was hoping for a penalty shot, so I was a little upset, but we were excited to be on the power play," Marchand said. "We knew we could get some chances, and what happened was we scored."
Captain Zdeno Chara added, "It was the first power play of the game for us and we obviously wanted to make it count for us."
Predictions: Boston wins this game 4-2.
