For being one of music's biggest upcoming stars, Frank Ocean has always been rather media-shy. So it was a treat for fans when he sat down BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe on Tuesday to talk about his night at the Grammys, his next album, and respond to a number of listener questions.
In regards to his next album, which he refers to as his "next thing," the star R&B pop singer said "I'm 10, 11 songs into this next thing. It's another cohesive thing, bordering on a concept record again. At the end of Channel Orange, there's "Golden Girl" and it's this beach scene. And I kind of wanted to extend that feel into the next record altogether, kind of make it that theme."
In attempt to capture his desired feel, Ocean plans to visit Bora Bora to work on the album for a few weeks. He's also round up an impressive list of collaborators for his next "thing," including Pharrell and Danger Mouse.
Ocean also exposed his emotional side when talking about his Grammy experience. He chats about his feelings when Prince came onstage to announce the winner of 'Record of the Year,' a category Ocean was nominated for, and his nervousness throughout the ceremony. In response to listener questions, he opens up even further about his guilty pleasures, favorite TV shows and all those little details that die-hard fans are overly curious about.
You can listen to the entire interview here, but what's most important is Ocean's announcement concerning his next album. He rebuked any rumors indicating his decision to end his career and let fans know that there's much more Frank Ocean to come.
