A 48-year-old Texas woman who was in need of cigarettes decided to call 911 and asked the dispatcher to delivery a pack of smokes to her Granbury home but when officers arrived they put her handcuffs.
Linda White was charged with a misdemeanor count of abuse of 911 and was later released on a $1,000 bond from Hood County jail. She was drunk when she made the 1 a.m. call on February 11, NBC 5 Dallas - Fort Worth reports.
According to a transcript of the 911 call, White can be heard asking a man "Why don't you call 911 and tell them I need some cigarettes", she then spoke to the dispatcher and said "I need some cigarettes."
The dispatcher asked White for her name and address. She answered that her name was Gary Roberts, the name of her boyfriend, but then she stumbled through the call giving the impression she was intoxicated.
On Tuesday, White apologized for the embarrassing incident during an interview with NBC 5 Dallas - Fort Worth and explain what happened.
"We were just kicking it in the back yard - a few beers too many," she said. "Next thing you know, we're out of cigarettes. Well, I didn't want to drive to town. ... I was drunk, you know, but in my back yard. Who's the safest person to call? Your police department. I thought."
"I am deeply sorry for what I did," White said, adding the police, "They don't deliver - they pick up,"
