Assassin's Creed 3 gamers will get an initial tasting of Ubisoft's alternate U.S. history in just one day, on Feb. 19. Ubisoft will release the first of a three-part series where George Washington goes mad with tyrannical power for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC gamers on the same day.
The installment, titled "The Infamy," will release for Wii U owners at a later date. The Infamy not only kicks off the storyline for the "The Tyranny of King Washington" series, but also introduces several new powers for the game's hero. After drinking from a hallucinogenic cup of tea, Connor will gain some nifty new Native American-based abilities, such as being able to punch like a bear and summon a pack of wolves to aid him.
The storyline, which follows Connor's attempt to curb a George Washington-turned-tyrant villain, will be part of the series' canon, and have an effect on later installments.
"By the end of the last episode you will see how this relates to Connor and the real George Washington," game director Marc-Alexis Côté told Eurogamer. "This experience is canon."
The Infamy will be available for $9.99, or 800 Microsoft Points. Season pass holders will be able to grab the DLC for free.
The Infamy will be followed by "The Betrayal" on March 19 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The last installment, "The Redemption" will release on April 23 for the same gaming platforms. There's no word on a Wii U release date just yet for any of three parts.
In advance of the DLC, Ubisoft has released a patch fixing some gameplay bugs and readying the game for The Infamy's release.
Will you be grabbing The Infamy when it releases Feb. 19?
