The stats are in, and after another incredible performance, LeBron James has officially reached a historic milestone stretch of incredible play.
The three-time NBA MVP was once again on fire Tuesday night, scoring 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting to become the first player in NBA history to score 30 points on 60 percent shooting for six consecutive games, leading the Miami Heat past the Portland Trail Blazers 117-104 Tuesday.
It was truly a milestone night for Miami as they recorded their 1,000th regular season win, but it was James who stood out most of all, shooting at a remarkably efficient rate and playing world class basketball in 39 minutes of play, hitting seven of eight free throws and going 1-for-3 from three-point range on a 73.3 percent shooting night.
To put it in perspective, James has made 70 of his last 96 shots from the field, shooting at an astonishing 72.9 percent accuracy rating for the last six games. Only Moses Malone and Adrian Dantley have ever scored 30 points on 60 percent shooting in five games before James' remarkable streak.
"I'm at a loss for words," James said in a televised postgame interview. "Like I say over and over, I know the history of the game. I know how many unbelievable players who came through the ranks, who paved the way for me and my teammates. And for me to be in the record books by myself with such a stat - any stat - it's big-time."
His play has even earned him a nod from friend and rival Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks.
"That's crazy," Anthony said on Tuesday during practice. "What he's doing right now is unbelievable. I mean, he's scoring 30-something, 40 points in 11 shots, 10 for 12 and things like that. He's on an incredible run right now."
On Twitter, fans paid tribute to the man they call King James.
"@Kingjames is such a beast!!! My boys killed it tonight, #GoHeat," tweeted David Lozano.
Peewee Ruiz was also impressed. "not really a @KingJames fan but what he is currently doing is truly AMAZING! he is indeed one of the greatest! @NBA #consistency," he posted.
"LeBron in my opinion is the best of the best right now," tweeted Tristan Caniglia.
"It will be a farce if Lebron doesn't win the MVP this year. Best in the world right now, indisputable. @KingJames," tweeted Dan Bonk.
"Lebron James is just ridiculous. So much better than everyone else. 30 again tonight. @KingJames," wrote Steve Goldstein.
