Italian magazine Chi has done it again. The gossip magazine, which published topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton in September, has managed to upset the British royal family once again after publishing new photos of the Duchess sporting her baby bump in a bikini while on vacation with her husband Prince William.
The photos, which show the pregnant royal in a blue bikini walking through the surf, are set to hit stands on February 13, Us Weekly reported. In response, St. James' Palace issued a statement that said the royal family was "disappointed that photographs of the Duke and Duchess on a private holiday look likely to be published overseas. This is a clear breach of the couple's right to privacy."
According to the Daily Beast, the photos appear to have been taken from a boat offshore of the privately owned island of Mustique. The long-lens photos appear on the cover of the Silvio Berlusconi family-owned tabloid under the headline, "La Pancia Cresce," or "Your Belly Grows."
Us Weekly reported that a source close to the couple said, "It's been a real sour note for the end of their trip. For Catherine, it was the first time she had shown her baby bump, and so for it to be exposed so quickly has shaken her up a little. They thought with the privacy laws on the island they would be able to spend a moment outside of the house without this happening."
This isn't the first time the royal family has had an issue with the Italian magazine. The Daily Mail reported that Chi has not only published photos of Kate before, but also published photos of Prince William's dying mother Princess Diana during her final moments alive.
St. James' Palace has not said whether it has decided to take legal action over the publication over the bikini-clad baby bump photos.
