2013 has already shaped up to be the year of Pokémon's resurgence. The highly anticipated Pokémon X and Y have broken headlines for the last few weeks, and now another title has just been revealed for Wii U owners.
According to a number of publications Nintendo has announced "Pokémon Rumble" as a downloadable game for the Wii U eShop. The game's existence was unveiled in Japanese magazine CoroCoro and scans of the publication have found their way online. According to Joystiq, the title is dubbed "Pokémon Scramble U" in Japan.
The third entry in the series will showcase all 649 Pokémon (except for the X and Y Pokémon) and 100 of the monsters will able to face off against each other at once. The title will support four players. According to Serebii, the title will be available in Japan in the Spring.
The "Pokémon Rumble" series started as a WiiWare title back in 2009. The title received a 59 aggregate score on Metacritic. Most pundits complained tha thte title was repetitive and needed more variety. Nintendo released the second iteration in 2011 and focused on making it more expansive;it was called "Pokémon Rumble Blast" and was also playable on the 3DS. "Rumble Blast" received similar scores with critics chiding the title for being shallow. NIntendo Power wrote "Pokemon Rumble Blast is a somewhat shallow experience, but the simple action and short levels make it a good pick-up-and-play portable game."
Aside from unveiling the game, a new Pokémon TV app has also been revealed. The app will allow gamers to access episodes from the Pokémon anime series and is available for iOS and Android devices. The application can be purchased on Google Play or iTunes and currently features around 50 episodes from each generation of the show to watch.
