It's that time of year again for Sports Illustrated to bring fans its hottest edition of the year-ironically, with the cover shot in one of the coldest places on Earth.
The 2013 issue of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition hits stands Tuesday featuring model Kate Upton for the second year in a row.
For the first time since its inception in 1964, the magazine will feature models posing at locations in all seven continents.
And for cover girl Upton, 20, that meant a trip to Antarctica, where she shot the cover that features the Michigan-born blonde in a white, fur-lined parka.
Ironically enough, the cover shot with the jacket is the most clothing Upton says she is wearing in the entire issue, she told CBS News in a phone interview Monday. "It was a sort of I-love-you from the editor: 'I'll let you wear a coat for this one,'" she said.
The shoot took ten days and Upton admitted that she got quite sick during the shoot before she returned to her home in Florida. "I don't think you can go to Antarctica and stand in a bikini without that happening. But I didn't die, and I'm OK now," she said.
Upton's official swimsuit cover debuted Monday night on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
The magazine will also feature the debut of Miss Alabama Katherine Webb, who became an overnight sensation last month after she was featured on camera in the stands of her boyfriend Crimson Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron's game. The magazine will feature Webb posing in a dual Alabama-Auburn jersey wearing McCarron's No. 10 jersey in one picture and football pads in the other.
Other notable models include Hannah Davis, who is rumored to be New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter's girlfriend and has been featured as the genie in a national DirecTV ad campaign.
