Roberto Luongo returns to the Vancouver net when the Canucks take on the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Cory Schneider started the last two games for the Canucks and put up stellar performances. He made 22 saves on Thursday against the Wild in a 4-1 victory and followed it up with 33 save effort against the Calgary Flames. However, it seems that Coach Alain Vigneault is going to play both of his goaltenders as much as he can.
"It's my turn," said Luongo when asked why he was getting the start. "I don't try to figure it out. I just play goal when I'm told. It's your job to try and find out the reasoning and all that stuff. My job is to stop the puck."
Vigneault added "I'm not going to get into the specifics of why Louie is playing the next game... I haven't done that so far this year on any of them and I'm not going to start now. The important thing is we have two good goaltenders and there is no wrong answer and Louie is going Tuesday."
Meanwhile the Minnesota Wild will look to reap vengeance for the Canucks' 4-1 win on Thursday. The team is coming off its first road win of the season, a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames.
Vancouver Wins If: It continues to get stellar goaltending from Luongo and effectively shuts down the top line of Minnesota. The Wild have gotten no secondary scoring all season and impairing their top team is an easy way to secure a win.
Minnesota Wins If: Minnesota will not win unless Nicklas Backstrom is better than Luongo. The Wild must also shoot at Luongo and get scoring from its second and third lines.
This is the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The Canucks scored 4-1 on Thursday.
Predictions: Luongo and company are bound to lose at some point. The Wild will shut them down in a 2-1 Overtime victory.
