The Boston Bruins will look to extend their historic start when they take on the New York Rangers.
The Bruins opened up the 2013 season with a record of eight wins, one loss, and one overtime loss; it was the best start to a season in the franchise's history. In its latest match, the Bruins took down an overwhelmed Buffalo Sabres squad 3-1. The Bruins were supposed to play on Saturday, but the blizzard postponed their match with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team flew to Buffalo to await the Sabres instead.
"Yesterday, we were ready to play, so I guess it gave us a day to rest," center Patrick Bergeron said. "We got here, and we knew Buffalo played last night, so we tried to take advantage of that."
Boston's Brad Marchand opened the scoring at the 7:10 mark of the second. Patrice Bergeron scored the go-ahead goal on powerplay goal at 7:52 of the third before Milan Lucic sealed the win with 49 seconds left to play.
The Bruins' matchup will be a New York Rangers team that handed them their lone overtime loss back on Jan. 23. In that game, Marian Gaborik scored a hat trick for New York. The Rangers have been getting more secondary scoring of late and put on their best effort on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-1 win.
Boston Wins If: It continues to play dominant, physical hockey and wears down the Rangers.
New York Wins If: It plays disciplined hockey and plays its strong forecheck game.
Predictions: Boston wins 3-2.
