The Wolverines beat their biggest rival, the Ohio State Buckeyes to avenge their first loss of the season.
Michigan has not been lower than fifth this season in either the AP Top 25 or the USA Today Coaches Poll. Michigan lost to the Indiana Hoosiers 81-73 for their only other loss of the season, which came last Saturday. The Wolverines are fifth in the NCAA in shooting percentage at .503.
Trey Burke leads the team in points per game (18.1), assists per game (7.2) and steals per game (1.3). Mitch McGary has the highest rebounds per game average with 6 per contest. Jordan Morgan has a .626 field goal percentage to lead all Wolverines in that category. Tim Hardaway, Jr. (16 points per game, .431 three-point field goal percentage) and Glenn Robinson III (5.7 rebounds per game, .576 field goal percentage) are both solid contributors with NBA roots in their family histories.
Wisconsin is fifth in the Big Ten with a 7-3 conference record. The Badgers have won two in a row, including a double overtime win at home over the Iowa Hawkeyes 74-70 on Wednesday.
Jared Berggren leads the team in points per game (11.8), shooting percentage (.486) and blocks per game (2). He is second on the squad in rebounds per game (6.8). Ryan Evans is the leading rebounder, averaging 7.7 boards per contest. Frank Kaminsky is the most prolific three-point shooter with a .423 shooting percentage behind the arc.
In the win over Iowa, Ben Brust scored 18 points and added six rebounds. Berggren had 16 points and collected 14 rebounds, eight of them on the offensive glass. He also blocked seven shots. Traevon Jackson had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists in the Wisconsin win and Ryan Evans had nine rebounds and five assists to go with his 15 points.
Last season, the #16 Wolverines topped the #18 Badgers 59-41 in Ann Arbor on January 8. Hardaway Jr. led all scorers with 17 points. He also had ten rebounds, good for second on the team.
