The Boston Bruins (6-1-1) and Montreal Canadiens (6-2-0) will renew their rivalry Wednesday night in Canada.
After finishing in last place in the Eastern Conference a season ago, few expected the Canadiens to be such a major force this season. However, the team has been stellar in the early going with tremendous defense and timely scoring. In their last two games, the Canadiens have only allowed two goals and have scored eight. In Montreal's 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators, Max Pacioretty made his first appearance after going an emergency procedure last week. He added an assist on Montreal's game-tying goal and logged 16 minutes of ice time. Canadiens keeper Carey Price has been the top player on the team and sports a 1.70 goal against average and a 93.8 save percentage.
Boston has not played since Saturday when goalie Tuuka Rask shutout the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 1-0 win; the shutout was the 12th of Rask's career. Despite only scoring one goal, Coach Claude Julien was impressed by his team's performance. "I liked the way that we came back and back-checked hard and didn't allow them to have too much time in our own end and freedom," Julien said. "That's a credit to the guys after having a tough week here with four games."
Previous Meetings: This is the first of four meetings between the teams. The winner of this match claims first place atop the Northeast Division.
Predictions: Games between these teams are always a great deal of fun. Look for a Montreal victory at home.
