The overzealous Fox News Contributor Dick Morris has been dropped from the Fox network. His contract has officially expired and the network will not be renewing it, denying him the opportunity to spit his commonly unjustified beliefs.
One of the reasons Morris has been criticized for his on-air comments is his lack of balance in his arguments. During pre-election debates, Morris would never base his predictions on scenario analysis or trends in the polling numbers; he simply predicted that Mitt Romney would win handsomely without much justification.
He was also known to boast his own expertise to validate his own predictions, according to the Washington Post.
"It's not a question of being smarter than anybody else. It's that I've done this for a living and there are very few people on television who talk about politics who've ever made a living doing it, and most of them are partisan and echoing a point of view, but when you get own to it, a guy like Karl Rove or Pat Caddell or even me or even Joe Trippi, we make a living doing this and I've made a living doing it for 40 years."
Fox News allowed Morris to toot his own horn and make unwarranted statements and predictions, but it seems they may have finally come to their senses. And based on his actions during and after the election, they've made a smart decision.
Yes, Morris did stubbornly predict a landslide victory for Romney, but he also caused a bit of drama when he and Rove refused to accept Barack Obama's victory on-air during election night. The two newscasters were sidelined shortly after the election. Rove has since returned to the network, but Morris wasn't so lucky, according to the Huffington Post.
So is Morris being let go for consistently being wrong? Or is it that the network is finally fed up with his arrogant antics? The reasons are apparent, but nothing can be confirmed. Morris announced via twitter on Tuesday that he'd make an appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight. Hopefully then the details will become clear, although we will most likely just hear his side of the story.
