The Tampa Bay Lightning (6-2-0) will look to continue their strong start when the head to Philadelphia on Tuesday evening to take on the struggling Flyers (3-6-0).
The Lightning's league-best offense was shut down on Saturday evening against the New York Rangers. Steven Stamkos provided the two goals for the Lightning, but the team was unable to rally back from a 3-1 to even the score.
"We had chances," Stamkos said. "But we just couldn't capitalize on them. They capitalized on theirs, but you look at the big picture, and if we can take eight out of a possible 10 points, we'll take that all the time."
While the Lightning have had no trouble scoring, offense has been at the root of Philadelphia's struggles. After have the third best offense in the league in 2011-12, the Flyers have dipped considerably and sit in 25th place on the goals for statistic. Special teams had been an issue early for the Flyers, but in everything seemed to click perfectly in Philadelphia's recent 5-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.
"That's one of the main reasons we've been struggling this season," said Flyers' Captain Claude Giroux. "The power play wasn't working. We've been working hard the last few days with it and it's good to see it really pay off now."
Previous Meetings: The two teams met on Jan. 27 when the Lightning defeated the Flyers 5-1. Martin St. Louis exploded for four assists while Anders Lindback made 24 saves in goal for Tampa Bay.
Predictions: The Lightning have been a dominant team this season; no reason to doubt they can win this game against a struggling squad. 5-3 Lightning.
