Telemundo's next big hit telenovela is "Señor De Los Cielos." While there is no official release date for the series, production and casting news has started to pile up.
According to a Jan. 22 report from El Nuevo Herald, the TV show is already in production. "Señor" tells the story of Amado Carrillo who was one of the most prominent drug dealers in the 1990's. The story will be headlined by Mexican actor Rafael Amaya but includes a number of other major Colombian and Mexican Stars. Carmen Villalobos, famous for her turn in "Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso" and more recently "Made in Cartagena," is slated to perform in the show. Other stars include Sara Corrales, Fernando Solórzano, Julián Arango and Mario Cimarro.
There are rumors that Andres Parra, famous for his turn as Pablo Escobar in the famous telenovela "Pablo Escobar: Patron Del Mal" would reprise that role in the show. However, there has been no confirmation of Parra's involvement.
"Señor de los Cielos" is expected to contain a great deal of action sequences and will follow the gritty realism of the aforementioned "Pablo Escobar" telenovela. Most of the scenes will be filmed on authentic ranches, airports in Mexico. Promos for the TV series indicate that it will be released in 2013; the show will likely take over the 10 PM slot currently occupied by "El Rostro De La Venganza."
