Kim Kardashian sparked a Twitter controversy when she posted an Instagram photo of a diamond-covered designer handgun. After several users strongly protested the photo, Kim quickly took it down.
Some called the photo hypocritical, seeing as Kim had recently tweeted a pledge in support of reducing gun violence in light of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
"Kim Kardashian is quite dense, isn't she?" said one user quoted by Fox News. "Pledging to support the gun control movement and then uploading pictures of designer handguns..."

Others took Kim's side. Fox quoted another user's response: "Kim Kardashian posted a pic of a gun on Instagram & now everyone is all pissed off. I forgot the 2nd amendment didn't count for celebs."
Kim, 32, is no stranger to guns. Kris Jenner once took Kim and Kourtney to a shooting range on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, apparently to learn how to defend themselves after their boutique was vandalized. Soon after, Kim posted an Instagram photo of a designer Yves Saint-Laurent handgun. And according to The Sun, "Kim was seen grinning as she clutched a Beretta shotgun during a family vacation."

However, "though the girls seemed to enjoy learning how to shoot," said The Huffington Post, they were adamant they didn't want to bring a gun into their store."
Kim has not commented on the controversy sparked by her latest designer gun photo. The topic of guns is especially sensitive right now in the U.S. in light of the Sandy Hook massacre and the ensuing political efforts to dramatically reform gun control policies.
