Police say at least 22 people were killed in a freakish traffic accident when a truck loaded with gravel veered out of control and smashed into a bus full of passengers, according to Reuters.
The accident occurred on Sunday in the town of al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates, the report says, adding that the truck landed on top of the bus and trapped the 46 passengers on board under tons of gravel.
Medical officials said 24 people were injuried, five of them critically. Authorities did not release the identities of the dead but news reporters indicate that they were mostly migrant workers from Bangladesh.
UAE has the highest rate of deaths related from traffic accidents, according to the World Health Organization.
