On Feb.1 the Academy Award nominated documentary "The Gatekeepers" will be released in art house theaters in New York and Los Angeles.
Directed by Dror Moreh, the documentary features interviews with six surviving heads of the Isareli Security Agency, Shin Bet. It recounts the role the agency took duirng the Six Day War.
"The Gatekeepers" has received critical acclaim with the New York Magazine stating "The Gatekeepers doesn't play like agitprop. The storytelling is strong, the images stark". Variety stated that "The brutal recent history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is rivetingly recounted by some of its most prominent players in The Gatekeepers." The New York Times added that "It is hard to imagine a movie about the Middle East that could be more timely, more painfully urgent, more challenging to conventional wisdom on all sides of the conflict."
"The Gatekeepers" was nominated for the Best Documentary category at the Oscars. The film also won the Los Angeles Film Critics, the National Film Critics and ranked among the top five documentaries at the National Board of Review. The film came in second place at the New York Film Critics and was nominated for the Producers Guild of America.
The Gatekeepers" is slated to open in New York and Los Angeles and will be distributed by Sony Classics Pictures.
