Two sports teams tried to use social media platforms to enhance the night for their fans, with one throwing a party and the other changing its threads.
Some players from the New Jersey Devils hockey team held a pre-game party for their fans before the Devils faced the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night at the TD Garden in Boston. The team's Facebook page created an invitation to "invade the Garden" and told fans to head to Boston Beer Works in the north end, NESN reports. The Bruins won the game 2-1 in a shootout. Tyler Seguin scored twice in a row for Boston after overtime, as his first shot was done over after a fan threw a hot dog onto the ice by Devils goalie Johan Hedberg.

In other social media news, the University of Akron tried to put its basketball team's Twitter handle on the back of its jerseys for a social media night promotion happening this upcoming weekend, but the move has not allowed to happen by the NCAA, NESN reports.
Not so ironically, the team announced through Twitter that the move would not be happening, but the Zips will still boast their username on their shooting shirts, which will be worn during warmups. Michigan State and Gonzaga both altered their jerseys this season by putting the team name on the back with the players' numbers.
