The Super Bowl may be the most important day of sports in the United States, but it also a major day for big companies to showcase ads for new products. The film studios are always major players on this day and will showcase some major blockbusters on Super Bowl Sunday.
According to numerous reports, major studios such as Disney, Paramount, and Universal have purchased ad space from CBS. Disney will showcase a new ad for "Oz: The Great and Powerful" during the game but the length of the spot is unknown. Disney is also slated to showcase a 90-second spot for "The Lone Ranger" during the pre-game and a 60-second teaser for "Iron Man 3" during the game.
According to Collider, Universal will present a 60-second spot for its upcoming film "Fast & Furious 6" during the game, while Paramount will show off 30 seconds of footage for "World War Z" during the pre-game and another 30 seconds of "Star Trek into Darkness" during the second quarter.
Warner Bros, The Weinstein Company, Sony, and 20th Century Fox are not showcasing any films during the Super Bowl despite a massive lineup this summer. According to Deadline, CBS raised the price for a 30 second ad up $4 million. Last year, NBC charged $3.5 million for 30 second spots during the Super Bowl.
