The Philadelphia Flyers (2-4-0) will face off against the New York Rangers (2-3-0) at the Madison Square Garden.
The Flyers are coming off a loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The team lost 5-1 with its only goal coming from sophmore Sean Couturier. The Flyers scored first but after 14 minutes of gameplay the Lightning tied. The Lightning then scored two more goals by the end of the first period. No goals were scored in the second, but Tampa Bay struck in the third to close the scoring. The Flyers now stand in fifth place in the Atlantic division with only four points.
The Rangers had a rough start to the season but looked like last year's Eastern Conference finalists in the the third period of a a 5-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs The Rangers started the game off by condeing a 2-0 lead to the Leafs. At the end of the second, Brad Richards got the Rangers on the board; the goal sparked the team. In the third period Marian Gaborik scored two goals and Marc Staal and Michael Del Zotto tallied as well. The Rangers have now played 5 games and are in fourth place in the Atlantic division.
Tuesday's game will mark the second match of the season between the Rangers and the Flyers. The Flyers won the first of the series 2-1 for their first win of the season.
Predictions: The Flyers have had a hard time this season but with a win against the Rangers, the team may have the momentum. The Rangers are looking better and matchup well against Philadelphia; NY wins 4-1.
