For the second time this month, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has been named the most anticipated movie of 2013. On Monday, MTV announced that the "Hunger Games" sequel had taken home the MTV Movie Brawl 2013 title.
With 10 million votes, "Catching Fire" took home the victory over the highly anticipated YA adaption "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." The win proved to be a redemptive victory following "The Hunger Games" loss to Robert Pattinson's "Cosmopolis" last year.
New cast member Sam Claflin, who plays District 4 Tribute hunk Finnick Odair, told MTV News, "I am so happy and proud to say I'm part of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.' Just want to say a big thank you to all the fans worldwide for voting. I'm thrilled to know they are just as excited as I am for the next chapter."
The British actor then took to Twitter to again thank his fans for their support. He tweeted, "No-one can match Finnick, his trident and the tributes...Boom. Congrats and thanks all for voting. You rock! X"
Claflin also spoke to Future Radio 107.8 about getting chosen for the highly coveted role of Finnick and how his casting divided fans of the "Hunger Games" series. "There was a huge backlash," he said. "Some positive and some very negative. You know, people were sort of saying they wanted to kill themselves and that I wasn't anywhere near good-looking enough."
The 26-year-old added that the physical training for his character was hard and rigorous but that it was worth it. "You have to keep focusing and working hard, and the moment you channel that out I just had fun really. And it was hard work, it was definitely, definitely hard work."
"I was eating chicken and asparagus twice a day, every day. Not including all the other meals I was forced to have each day. And then working out two or three times a day," Claflin continued. "I didn't really have a life, but when I was on set there was a great dynamic between the cast and crew and when you're on a set in the middle of Hawaii, you don't really care about what other people think."
Claflin said, "I enjoyed the moment when I was in the moment."
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" premieres on November 22, 2013.
