The English language ABC and Spanish language Univision are collaborating on a new news channel and are steadily packing on hiring people.
According to Media Moves, the "highly anticipated launch" of the still unnamed network is set to launch in September.
A CEO for the news channel has not been determined but a Univision spokesperson says candidates are being interviewed and will report to a six member board of directors - three representing ABC and three from Univision.
The two networks are apparently split responsibilities. Media Moves noted ABC will handle promotion and distribution of the news channel while Univision will handle content.
A few important hires have been named.
Former head of CBS News Investigative Unit Keith Summa was named Vice President of News Partnerships last August while former AOL Latinos and Huffington Post Latino Managing Editor Miguel Ferrer was named Executive Producer, Digital of the JV.
A CFO has also been named with Tom Finn, formerly the JV of ESPN Star Sports, was named CFO for the unnamed news channel.
The upcoming news channel has also added NBC News "Dateline" producer Rayner Ramirez and MSNBC "Now with Alex Wagner" producer Dax Tejera.
Ahead of its launch, ABC and Univision did launch a news site for the news channel. Since the network is still unnamed, it is being referred to as "ABC News/Univision Network."
