The Colorado Avalanche head to San Jose to face the Sharks on Saturday nights.
The Avalanche had a solid effort against the Blue Jackets as their goalie Semyon Varlamov led the way with a whopping 33 save for his first shutout of the season. The team also got a tremendous three-point performance from Matt Duchene who scored twice and assisted on a PA Parenteau goal. The Avalanche have started the 2013 season with a solid record of two wins and one loss.
The Sharks are also off to a solid start in 2013 with three dominating performances. The team defeated Calgary Flames 4-1 in their opener and followed it up with a 6-3 thrashing of the Edmonton Oilers. In their most recent match San Jose defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 5-3. Thornton leads the NHL with 9 points (one goal eight assists) while Patrick Marleau has scored six goals in their three games.
Jan. 26th game marks the first match between the Avalanche and the Sharks. Last year the Sharks defeated the Avalanche three times in four tries including a 5-1 win on March 26, 2013.
Predictions: The Sharks' offense has been tremendous through three games. Goaltending will decide this game. If Varlomov plays as he has in the first three games, Colorado could steal this one in the Shark Tank. However, I think San Jose continues its hot start with a 4-1 win.
