Brothers Caleb and Colten Moore were hospitalized after sustaining injuries at the X Games snowmobile freestyle final Thursday night.

Caleb, 25, tried to ride his sled through a course of jumps in 75 seconds--the first competitor to attempt the feat. But when he tried to perform a back flip late in the run, he did not make it far enough down the landing ramp.

Caleb was thrown from his snowmobile after a full rotation and the skis from his sled hit him while he was sliding down the ramp.

Moore was unconscious but eventually walked off the course after several minutes. He was then taken to Aspen Valley Hospital where his heart started to bleed. After discovering the serious injury, Caleb was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. where he had surgery Friday morning and still remains there in intensive care with a heart contusion---according to an ESPN spokesman as reported by USA Today.

Caleb reportedly told the New York Times before the race that he has suffered from about 10 concussions in the past.

Colten Moore, 23, also suffered an injury later in the competition after crashing his snowmobile on a jump--the same landing ramp that his older brother was injured on. Moore was thrown off the back of his sled after rotating too far on a back flip and was placed on a gurney and sent to Aspen Valley Hospital.

Moore's injury--pubic distasis, or separation of the pelvis--will not require surgery, according to a spokesman and reports by USA Today.
