Andy Murray advanced to the 2013 Australian Open finals with a victory over second-seeded Roger Federer on Friday. Murray first faced Federer in a Grand Slam four years ago, and finally beat him for the first time, advancing to his sixth ever Grand Slam Final, and his second at this tournament.
Murray beat Federer 6-4 6-7(5) 6-3 6-7(2) 6-2 in a four hour match, earning the right to play top-seeded Novak Djokovic in the final round on Sunday.
Federer had just come of a five-set win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in Wednesday night's quarterfinal, and it showed at times during the match.
At Wimbledon six months ago, Murray had an early lead over Federer, winning the first set and taking a lead in the second, but Federer bounced back to win the set 7-5 and won the next two sets. With a different surface came a different result though.
The women's singles final will be on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 am EST. The men's final will be the last match of the tournament at 7:30 am EST on Monday, Jan. 28 between Murray and Djokovic. This is the full schedule of the 2013 Australian Open.
