Country singer Chely Wright and her wife, Lauren Blitzer-Wright, just got some big news: Chely is expecting identical twins!
The couple made the announcement on Howard Bragman's YouTube talk show Gwissues on Wednesday.
"We're excited to be parents and we hope we don't mess it up too badly!" Wright said on the show, according to People. "We're anticipating I'll be as big as a...bus or an A-frame house by around June."
The twins are due in July, according to Yahoo! News, but Wright "expects she'll have to deliver a month early, as is often the case with twins."
Wright was the first major country music star to come out as openly gay. According to People, she "met her future wife just two weeks after coming out" in May 2010. They married in Connecticut the following summer.
"When gay couples have have babies it's logistically a little different than when straight people have babies, as we all know," Wright said, adding, "We feel like God blessed us with twins."
After she came out, Wright faced a fair bit of backlash from some members of the country music community, who said they felt "betrayed" by the announcement of her sexuality.
"I haven't been invited back to do a country music event," Wright told Brooke Anderson of The Insider last spring. But she added, "You can't write me out of the history books. You can't take away the fact that at one point I was one of music row's golden girls."
