The voice actor behind several 'Charlie Brown' cartoon specials was arrested on five charges in San Diego on Sunday. Peter Robbins, who as a kid voiced the lead character Charlie Brown in 'Peanuts' TV specials and movies, was arrested by border security at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, E! News reported on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old former child actor was booked into jail shortly before 4 a.m. on five charges, including four felony counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury and one felony count of stalking. According to Angelica de Cima, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, officers ran the actor's name through the computer, which revealed his unresolved warrants.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Robbins allegedly threatened violence against California plastic surgeon Dr. Lori Saltz after claiming that she'd ruined a procedure on his girlfriend. Saltz obtained a temporary restraining order against Robbins during a January 3 hearing and reported that Robbins threatened to "break her in half."
However, that was not the first incident where Robbins threatened someone with violence. During a dine-and-dash incident at a La Jolla, Calif. restaurant, Robbins was arrested on January 13. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Robbins then threatened the police officer while being put in handcuffs.
E! News reported that Robbins is being held on a $550,000 bail. The actor's arraignment is scheduled for today.
The actor participated in several 'Peanuts' TV movies, including 1965's "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas," 1966's "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and 1967's "You're in Love, Charlie Brown."
Request to reach Robbins' manager for comment were unsuccessful, E! News reported.
