Singer turned actor Justin Timberlake just released his first single since his hit 2006 album "FutureSex/LoveSounds" and it is already breaking Billboard records. The song, "Suit & Tie," has the highest first-week plays total on Billboard's Pop Songs chart's 20-year history, Billboard announced on Monday.

During the week of January 14-20, "Suit & Tie" logged in 6,045 plays, pushing ahead of the previous record holder Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," which logged in 4,602 plays and debuted at No. 14 during its first week in February 2011.

According to Billboard, "Suit & Tie" also debuted at No. 14, taking over the highest-debuting song by a male artist on the chart. The titled was previously held by Jon Secada's "If You Go," which debuted at No. 19 in the week of May 14, 1994. The only song to debut at a higher position is Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover," which ranked No. 12 when it was released on August 14, 1993.

During its first week release, "Suit & Tie" sold 310,078 downloads, RCA Records reported. The song currently ranks third on iTunes Top 100 songs. "Suit & Tie" is the first single in Timberlake's upcoming album "The 20/20 Experience." The singer announced his new album and song in a letter to fans last week.

"The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn't expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I've had in my career."

Timberlake is set to make his live return during a New Orleans charity concert during Super Bow weekend, Billboard reported on Wednesday. The event, DIRECTV Super Saturday Night, will be held on February 2 at DTV SuperFan stadium and will be hosted by Mark Cuban with DJ Questlove. According to Billboard, the event will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
