Boy band fan girls rejoice, New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) have announced that they will be going on tour with fellow boy banders (man banders?) 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men. The three bands, which enjoyed tremendous success during the 80s and 90s, will be kicking off their "Package Tour" on May 31 in Uncasville, Conn. and will end July 13 in Minneapolis, Billboard reported.
On Tuesday, NKOTB member Donnie Wahlberg said, "The state of the boy band union is strong. Even though technically we're not really boy bands, but we're OK with that, so we'll accept it."
According to Billboard, NKOTB formed in 1984 in Boston and earned ten Top 20 hits before breaking up in 1994. They eventually reunited 14 years later and went on tour with another 90s boy band-Backstreet Boys. Wahlberg said the band's new music will create "an outlet for them [the fans] to feel good about themselves and tap into that youthfulness that had been put to bed for a long time."
The band will also be releasing a new single, "Remix (I Like The)," on January 28 and a new album, "10," on April 2.
Fellow "Package Tour" group, 98 Degrees, have been apart for 12 years but member Nick Lachey told reporters they're excited to be back together. "So we're excited to get back together and doing what we do," Lachey said, "We feel reinvigorated by our bond and by our group, so we're very excited by that." The tour will mark the first time the band has performed since playing a one-time show in Hershey, Pa. last summer.
As for the R&B group, Boyz II Men, member Nathan Morris says they're ready to get back to performing. Morris told Billboard, "If the boy band thing is attached, it's wonderful, for all of is in here, we're ready to get our there and sing and perform. That's just what we do."
The three bands appeared on ABC's "The View" on Tuesday to announce the tour. In a statement released about the tour, Wahlberg said, "Ladies, we're coming for you. This is going to be the craziest year yet-the single, the album, the tour with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men...We can't wait to give fans 'The Package!'"
Tickets for the tour will go on sale on February 2 via Ticketmaster, CBS News reported.
