When Shakira's baby was born yesterday, Jan.22, very little information was revealed at first other than the name of the baby: Milan Pique Mebarak.
A few hours later, Shakira posted more information on her website. The page revealed that her son was born at 9:36 p.m. local time in Barcelona, Spain weighing 6 lbs., 6 ounces. She also revealed that Milan's name means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; in Sanskrit, unification.
Shakira.com also stated that like Pique, Milan became a member of the FC Barcelona at birth. The website stated that the mother and child were in excellent health. However the couple not surprisingly avoided posting any pictures of the baby.
After the birth of the child Paparazzis lined up at the hospital trying to get the first picture of the baby but were kicked out. Speculation is also circulating the internet whether the baby would become a soccer player or a pop star.
Shakira was brought to the hospital at 6 p.m. and entered through back entrance to avoid the paparazzis waiting for her to arrive.
The couple recently posted pictures of Shakira's baby bump on Twitter. The couple also launched their virtual baby shower and asked fans to contribute to the organization UNICEF.
Shakira next appears on NBC's "The Voice" while Pique will continue traveling with the soccer team FC Barcelona.
