RnB sensation Chris Brown is the latest celebrity to get swatted--a prank in which someone calls 911 to report a false crime taking place at the celebrity's home and leads to police and a SWAT team breaking into the home to investigate.
Reporters say that a prankster called the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday around 5 pm and reported that an incident of domestic abuse occurred involving Chris Brown's mother and a gun. When the LAPD arrived on the scene, the singer/actor was not home, but they were greeted by his staff members. Soon thereafter, Brown's parents came to his home.
A number of celebs have also fallen victim to this hoax including Charlie Sheen, Miley Cyrus and Simon Cowell. Earlier this month, Tom Cruise was pranked when a prankster reported that a false armed robbery was taking place at his mansion.
In December, a 12-year-old boy was taken into custody for allegedly reporting violent crimes at the homes of Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher. Lt. Marc Reina said the boy used a computer program to make TTY calls to the LAPD, a service usually used by people who are hearing-impaired. He has not been charged with a crime as prosecutors are reviewing the case.
This isn't the first time that the police were sent to investigate the Academy Award-winning actor's home. Last fall a trespasser, who turned out to be a guest staying with Cruise's neighbor, was found on his property, but Cruise did not press charges.
