Second-seeded Maria Sharapova will face the 19th seed, Ekaterina Makarova in Women's Singles Quarterfinals of the Australian Open no earlier than 3:30am EST on Tuesday. The Williams sisters have a doubles match at 11pm EST on Monday, and fourth-seeded David Ferrer will have a singles match on the men's side.
Sharapova topped Kirsten Flipkens 6-1, 6-0 on Sunday to earn a berth in the quarterfinals. In four rounds of the tournament, the Russian Sharapova has only lost five games (with four in her previous match-up, against Venus Williams).
Venus and Serena Williams beat Nadia Petrova and Katarina Srebotnik 6-2, 6-3 in their third round doubles match to set up a meeting with the Italian doubles team of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci. Serena is still eligible for the singles title, having beaten Maria Kirilenko in the last round 6-2, 6-0.
Ferrer advanced to the fifth round himself with a victory over 16th-ranked Kei Nishikori 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday. He beat another seeded player in the previous round, Marcos Baghdatis (28th).
The women's singles final will be on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 am EST. The men's final will be the last match of the tournament at 7:30 am EST on Monday, Jan. 28.
The women's doubles final takes place on Saturday, Jan. 26 not before 4:00 am. The men's doubles final will be after the women's singles final. The mixed doubles final will be at 4:00 am EST on Monday, Jan. 28.
