"Game of Thrones" season 6 rumors keep on pouring to satiate fans' thirst for more news about the hit HBO series. This week, Cinema Blend reports that another actor has been added to the cast roster. Freddie Stroma of the TV series "UnREAL" will join the fantasy drama as Dickon Tarly, brother of one of the night's watch and friend of Jon Snow, Samwell Tarly.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there is not much to be known about Dickon based on George R. R. Martin’s novels except for the fact that he is "younger and more physically capable" than Sam. It can be remembered that in the last season, Sam was seen leaving Castle Black with Gilly and her baby to become a maester.
Cinema Blend notes that the Tarly brothers will have a "complex" relationship. The news outlet further speculates that because Sam's father, Randyll Tarly, is a military commander, Dickon might be the family heir after Sam was forced to enter to become a brother of the Night's Watch.
In May, Watchers on the Wall posted a leaked casting list for "Game of Thrones" season 6, which, according to Cinema Blend, consisted of some of Sam's family members. The casting call for Sam's mother described her as someone in her 50s, who is "sweet, plump, and adoring mother and has a soft spot for one of her children who benefits from her decency."
His brother, Dickon, was described as someone in his mid-20s who is "athletic, a good hunter, an excellent swordsman, manly, not particularly bright but the favourite child of the father." Also included in the casting list is one of Sam's sister, who is in her early 20s and is a "kind, friendly and unpretentious woman."
Watchers on the Wall further notes that Sam’s “abusive” father, Randyll Tarly, will also be included in the next season and will play a “very good part." Some fans had already guessed his appearance in season 6 as his name was mentioned by Stannis Baratheon a couple of times. The casting list described him as someone in their 50s to 60s. "He’s one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros- a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home.”
Stroma will join other recently announced new cast members such as Pilou Asbæk, Ian McShane and Max von Sydow, per The Hollywood Reporter.
"Game of Thrones" season 6 will premiere on HBO next year.
