"The Rager," the third episode of season four of 'The Vampire Diaries' picks up right where episode two "Memorial" left off. Tyler (Michael Trevino) is resting at Mystic Falls' hospital after getting shot in front of everyone by new vampire hunter Connor Jordan (Todd Williams). Of course, getting some pretend needed rest is not as easy as it would seem as Connor finds a way to track him down to his hospital room.

Ever the stealthy vampire hunter, Connor manages to take out Tyler's human security guard and sneak his way into his hospital room. Although Tyler hears him coming and manages to hide before attacking Connor, the mysterious new member of Mystic Falls is too quick for him and ultimately over powers him. Surprisingly, Connor doesn't attempt to kill him again but instead paralyzes him long enough to steal the ultimate vampire poison-Tyler's werewolf venom.

After learning that his firstborn hybrid Tyler is being targeted, Original hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returns to Mystic Falls, much to his own chagrin. He makes sure to bring a couple of hybrid bodyguards, who are ordered to guard Tyler's life. Of course, Klaus isn't the only one who stops by to visit Tyler. Fellow wolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), who helped Tyler break his sire bond to Klaus, comes to pay a visit. In his attempt to keep her visit a secret from girlfriend Caroline (Candice Accola), Tyler gives Klaus the perfect ammo to use to get Caroline on his side.

Back at the Salvatores, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is determined to find Connor and eat him before skipping out of town as per his pact with Stefan (Paul Wesley). Stefan, of course, finds Damon's being a tad bit over dramatic. While Damon won't let him join in any vampire hunter hunting game, Stefan is determined to make girlfriend Elena's (Nina Dobrev) vampire transition a bit more fun.

In the meantime, Elena, who finally gave into her human blood urges last episode, meets up with ex-boyfriend Matt (Zach Roerig) for her morning breakfast feeding. Matt, who feels guilty for surviving the car crash that ultimately turns Elena into a vampire, is more than happy to oblige her feeding needs.

Once back at Mystic Falls High, the gang finds Connor roaming the halls looking for more clues to vampires in town. He first comes across Elena's brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and takes him to an empty classroom. There, Connor tells Jeremy that the reason he can see Connor's "hunter's mark" is because he's destined to be a vampire hunter himself. Connor tells Jer that he can help train him, as long as he brings a vampire to him later that day.

Over in history class, Original Rebekah (Claire Holt) taunts Elena to the point of pure rage, leading Elena to channel her heightened emotions to killing Rebekah for all that she's done. Elena isn't the only one that could use a day off from Rebekah, as Matt clearly showed in his encounter with her in the hallway.

A newly fanged Elena decides to go to Rebekah's ditch party to pursue her plan but is stopped by Stefan, who reminds her that if Rebekah goes, so do all the vampires that come from her line. While Elena's plan to kill Rebekah is foiled, Bekah is still not in the clear. Matt, who is grabbed by Connor in the hallway and forced to reveal who has been feeding on him, names Rebekah as the guilty vampire. Connor uses this information, not knowing that she's an Original, and slips werewolf venom in the beer keg at her ditch party, making her (and Elena) sick in the process.

Outside of the high school, Daman manages to get himself arrowed twice in Connor's trailer as he searches for clues about him. The arrows, which are connected to two bombs, force Daman to call Dr. Meredith Fell (Torrey DeVitto) to give him a hand. The two bond as she helps him out of his exploding trap leading Meredith to tell Damon he's a "good brother" for taking on the dangerous parts of their lives.

After an effective guilt-trip by Stefan, Elena decides to leave Rebekah's party and enjoy a day out with her boyfriend, but no before showing Bekah up by doing a keg stand that riles their classmates up. The couple goes on a motorcycle ride and head back to his place for a steamy hookup, before Elena realizes that everything is not okay.

In the meantime, Damon, Klaus, Jeremy and Meredith hatch up a plan to capture Connor at the hospital using his very own arrow-bomb trap. Damon and Klaus manage to trap Connor to question him and despite his best efforts, he doesn't manage to stake Klaus. "Nice try. But I'm faster than your average vampire," Klaus says. It is then that Klaus discovers that Connor is "one of the five."

Unfortunately for Damon, he doesn't have much time to decipher what Klaus is talking about before Connor says he's "faster than your average hunter" and the room explodes. Although Damon thinks he's gotten ride of his problem, it turns out that Klaus managed to safely get Connor out of the exploding room and under his "protection."

Back at the Salvators, Stefan finally realizes that Elena's been poisoned and frantically calls Klaus to save her, which he surprisingly does. Elena, on the road to recovery, heads back to her house and meets up with Matt for dinner. However, unlike her morning feed, Elena goes too far and starts to overfeed on Matt, hurting him in the process. Out of nowhere, Damon rushes in and stops her from killing Matt.

Ever the compeller, Damon compels Matt to forget that Elena almost killed him and sends him on his way. He then turns to Elena and tells her that he'll help her learn to be a vampire "the right way."

The two-some will be seen doing just that during a college visit with Bonnie (Kat Graham) and without her boyfriend Stefan.

'Vampire Diaries' S4E4, "The Five," airs next Thursday, November 1 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
