In anticipation of the Nov. 5 release of Call of Duty: Ghosts on current consoles and the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, here's a preview of what to expect from the game.
The game will take place in the near future, when a massive attack on America has left the country a shell of its former glory. Players will be put into a squad of dedicated black ops soldiers, which includes the now famous Riley the dog. The team and Riley must cross the globe taking care of business and defeating America's foes while dealing with the continued fallout from America's downfall.
As for the single player gameplay, players will be able to tackle missions in a variety of ways. Call of Duty: Ghosts places great emphasis on stealth. Players silently take out foes either close up or with coordinated strikes to take out a group all at once. Players can also use Riley to scout terrain and take out enemies using his powerful jaws. Riley is so valuable to the team that one trailer shows Riley taking down a helicopter by himself.
Despite the new changes to the single player campaign, many fans are more excited for a new round of Call of Duty multiplayer to sink their teeth into. The game will have 14 maps for use before DLC, and seven new multiplayer modes for players to try out. The game will have 30 new weapons and a new character class called the Marksmen Rifle weapon class. In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, there will be some clan integration and second screen functionality with the new Call of Duty companion app.
One of the new multiplayer modes is Search and Rescue, which is similar to Search and Destroy. Players will have a single life, but can be revived by the teammates. Players will have to complete objectives like in Search and Destroy, but will have to use teamwork similar to Kill Confirmed. Another new mode is called Cranked, in which players will get a speed boost every time they get a kill. However, if players do not get a kill every 30 seconds they will explode and snap the streak. Free for all will also be making a return to the series with Call of Duty: Ghosts.
