With Battlefield 4 released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, many are now looking toward the next big video game launch—Call of Duty: Ghosts. The most recent entry into the Call of Duty Franchise, Ghosts will be released on current consoles on Nov. 5, and will be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Ahead of the game's impending release, Activision and Infinity Ward have revealed how much data will be required to install the game on the Xbox 360 and discussed pre-load information for the PlayStation 3 version of the game.
Anyone who buys the Xbox 360 version of the game will have to install around 3GB of data on to their console before playing the single player portion, said Activision community manager Dan Amrich, who stated that players will not need to download additional data to play the multiplayer portion of the game.
"Ghosts will require a little space and time to install its single-player campaign data. This should be less than 3GB of space, but you'll want to make sure you've either cleared space or you've got an appropriate USB flash drive ready...Ghosts will play on an Xbox 360 with an internal 4GB flash drive. Also, any compatible USB 2.0 flash drive (formatted for Xbox) with enough free space will work, including thumb drives."
No word if other consoles will require mandatory game installs, but players who plan on buying the digital version of the game on the PlayStation 3 can soon look forward to being able to pre-load portions of the game before it is released. A post on the PlayStation Blog has revealed that those who pre-ordered the game can begin pre-loading the game on Nov. 3 so they can begin playing as soon as possible on Nov. 5.
"Pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts on PlayStation Store and you'll be able to start downloading the game any time after 3:00 PM PT on Sunday, November 3rd so you can begin playing as soon as 12:01 AM PST on November 5th. This feature will be available for both the standard game and the Digital Hardened Edition. Then, after you've picked up your game, take advantage of the Double XP event during launch weekend from Friday, November 8th (10:00 AM PT) to Monday, November 11th (10:00 AM PT). You'll earn twice as much XP on all of your multiplayer accomplishments," Sony wrote on its PlayStation Blog.
