Mexican actress and singer Eiza González landed her first role in Hollywood! The 23-year-old star will star in in "All Hail The Squash Blossom Queen," the Huffington Post reported.
González shared her excitement with her fans on Twitter. "Can't wait to start shooting!! This is gonna be sick!!," wrote the actress, who recently spent a wild weekend in Las Vegas with alleged boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, singer Miley Cyrus's ex-fiancé.
"Eiza won't play a Hispanic part, but a straight American girl," director Adrián Cervantes told E! News about González's character, who will be named Brittany. Cervantes also talked about the plot, revealing the movie follows the story of "a small-town girl who lives to compete in beauty pageants. She'll be facing a huge challenge when her main love interest becomes her biggest opponent at the town's beauty pageant."
According to E! News, the movie will begin shooting in April 2014. The cast also includes Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the "Harry Potter" saga, and Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless"), who will play González character's love interest.
González got mainstream attention after she became involved with Hemsworth. The two were spotted kissing in a bar in Las Vegas.
E! Online paid a large sum of money to acquire the pictures that proved that there is, indeed, a romance between González and Hemsworth.
According to People en Español, the pictures were taken outside González's apartment in Beverly Hills. The 23-year-old actor had arrived at around 3:30 p.m. PST on Tuesday to leave some luggage with the actress. Hemsworth reportedly only spent 5 minutes there; however, the pictures show them kissing passionately.
The breakup between Cyrus and Hemsworth came after an alleged act of unfaithfulness by Hemsworth, reported sources close to the couple quoted by E! Online.
González decided to move permanently to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams in movies and music in the United States. She is known for her roles in telenovelas. Her most successful telenovela, so far, is "Amores Verdaderos," where she played Nikki Brizz, a young woman who struggled with bulimia and anorexia.
She started her career in 2008 after she was chosen to star in "Lola...érase Una Vez" ("Lola...Once Upon a Time"). Once that telenovela ended, González moved to Argentina to star in Nickelodeon's "Sueña Conmigo," where she played Clara Molina by day and Roxy-Pop by night.
