Think you're a Barbie doll fan? Meet Jian Yang and be amazed at his doll collection.
It all started when he was 13 years old, the 33-year old Singaporean said. "Before I knew anything about social norms, I was a boy that watched this on TV, liked it and wasn't allowed to have one. As I grew older, got my own allowance, that's where I started getting the freedom to buy whatever I wanted," Yang said in a report by John O'Callaghan.
His collection is made up of over 6,000 Barbie dolls and over 3,000 more of other kinds of dolls. Occupying nine mirrored cabinets and shelves, his doll collection sits neatly on a pink colored floor. And no, it's not just any shade of pink but Pantone 219 C. - Barbie's signature color.
According to Yang, he has spent about $392,000 on his doll collection. He mostly buys his dolls from overseas - with the latest splurge in New York where he bought home 65 dolls! He also buys his dolls online and at auctions. Friends and family are also supportive of his obsession - even giving him doll gifts to add to his collection.
