Rockstar Games have officially finished creating Grand Theft Auto 5, at the same time that Sony apologizes for a leak that released information about the game ahead of schedule.

In the newswire for the game, Rockstar announced in the comments section that the game has gone gold, meaning that the game is officially finished and Rockstar has the final version of the game ready for distribution. Now Rockstar will switch their focus from completing the game to getting the game ready for the massive launch the game will have on September 17.

In addition, Sony has released an official apology for the leaks that the game has suffered earlier, which released information about the game's music and other aspects of Los Santos:

"Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we're looking forward to a historic launch on September 17."

Rockstar released their own statement about the leak, which can be read on the Newswire link posted above:

"As you can imagine, we are deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game's launch. GTAV represents years of hard work by many people across the world, and we all couldn't be more excited to finally share it with you properly this September 17th."

While the leaks were not major, it is a major blunder on Sony's part to have assets from the game available for users to browse through, and they are luckily more information did not come out about the game.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is easily the most anticipated game of the year, and represents the last hurrah for many gamers who are switching from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will only be available on current gen consoles, and though there have been frequent PC port rumors nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar. The game will be available in September, but those waiting for Grand Theft Auto 5 Online will be delayed until October 1.
