Good news for anyone who hates the name of the Sony Xperia i1 Honami: a new leak may have revealed a new name for the device—the much simpler Sony Xperia Z1.

This news comes from a tweet from a user named DooMLoRD in the Xda developer forum, who tweeted that the device may be called the Z1 or Z One. This leak is from a fairly credible source, according to NDTV Gadgets, so this is probably not some random Twitter user spreading rumors to try and gain attention. This name would make much more sense than either the i1 or the Honami, as traditionally Xperia devices usually just have a letter and maybe a descriptor such as mini or ultra to denote how they are different.

The news comes hot off the heels of yet another in a long list of leaks concerning the device, this time coming from ePrice. The new leak shows off a device thought to be the i1 Honami/Z1 in three different colors: black, purple and white. This would back up some previous leaks concerning the device, which showed the handset in purple, as well as in white. The new photo also appears to show the device with a glass back panel. These photos of the Honami/Z1 appear to be press photos of the device, so not much else can be inferred about the smartphone from the images.

In any case, curious parties will find out more about the device on Sept. 4, two days before the IFA in Berlin, Germany. The first leak to show the i1 Honami/Z1 in purple revealed that the device will be unveiled officially on that date ahead of the rest of festivities for the event.

The rumored specs for the device are fairly impressive. The device is rumored to have a 20 megapixel Exmor RS camera with a Sony G-lens and BIONZ image processor capable of recording ultra high definition 4K content. The display for these photos and videos is rumored to be a five inch Full HD screen. The hardware for the device is rumored to be an impressive 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM. The device will allegedly have 16GB of internal memory and is rumored to have Android 4.2 as the operating system.

Will the new device switch to Z1, or will the device be called i1 Honami? Keep it here as the Sept. 4 reveal date gets closer and closer.
