The next generation of the Google Nexus 7, commonly called the Nexus 7 2, has already been unveiled in the U.S. and released on July 30. But for the U.K., recent reports have put the Nexus 7 2's release date earlier than previously expected.

That's according to a twitter conversation on July 30, picked up by KnowYourMobile, which found Ebuyer.com, an online supplier of electronics, telling a customer that the Google Nexus 7 2 would be available on Aug. 29 in the U.K. Previous reports had put Google's new Nexus 7 2 as shipping on Sept. 13.

However, one retailer giving a release date is not conclusive proof, so in the coming days, we'll see if Ebuyer was just confused or overambitious, or had the inside track on the new Nexus 7 2's release date.

Google unveiled the Nexus 7 2 on July 24, along with the new Chromecast TV dongle, in San Francisco. The new Nexus 7 2 was manufactured by Asus for Google, and has received great reviews so far. The second generation Nexus 7 comes with a 7-inch screen, capable of 1920 x 1200 resolution, and video playback in 1080p, which the iPad mini is currently lacking. The Nexus 7 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, along with 2GB of RAM.

The new Google Nexus 7 2 costs slightly more than last year's Nexus 7 model. The 16GB Wi-Fi only model has a price tag of $229 (£199.99 in the U.K.) and the 32GB version of the new Nexus 7 2 costs $269 (or £239.99) for the Wi-Fi only variant. However, there are many improvements over last year's Nexus 7, including a 5-megapixel rear camera. The Nexus 7 2 also comes with a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and Google's newest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.3.
