A week after deciding to switch coaches, former world's no.1 Maria Sharapova has apparently found something annoying with her tennis mentor Jimmy Connors.
Sharapova, who has racked up 29 singles titles and four Grand Slams crowns in her career, is apparently envious of the achievements of her new tennis coach. In a recent post on her Twitter account, the ever bubbly Sharapova did not have second thought in expressing her envy on Connors and his eight Grand Slam titles.
"Kind of annoying that he has 4 more Grand Slams than me," the Russian posted with a smiley face at the end of the tweet.
Sharapova might be just kidding around but the tweet also suggests she's greatly overwhelmed by the opportunity of being coached by one of the greatest tennis players of all-time. The Russian might have already accomplished a career Grand Slam, but it's nowhere near her coach's trophy haul.
Connors has 109 career singles titles (8 Grand Slams) notched on his belt and won all available majors championship (Wimbledon Open, Australian Open, US Open, Tour Finals and WCT Finals) except the French Open championships, where he reached the semifinals four times.
Sharapova's training under the tutelage of Connors could give her edge over some of her fellow WTA Tour players, and at the same time, bring an immense amount of pressure to deliver victories in consistent basis.
Coming off a second round exit at the Wimbledon Open, Sharapova is currently preparing for the hard court season which will culminate in next month's US Open Championship in Queens, New York.
