In an attempt to pressure Republicans in congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform, eight Democratic lawmakers joined advocacy leaders and were arrested at an immigration rally on the National Mall in Washington on Tuesday .
Although the immigration reform bill presented by Democrats on Wednesday has received some criticism, it is mainly being praised for providing the 11 million undocumented workers currently living in the U.S with a pathway to legal status.
With the clock ticking and the deadline to pass comprehensive immigration reform this year slowly nearing, it may take House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to reignite life back into this faltering issue and keep the debate going.
The calls are coming in for Mayor Bob Filner to resign. Most recently and prominently, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took to twitter to admonish the mayor, tweeting that: "Mayor Filner is out of rehab, he should be out of the Mayor's Office - should not subject San Diegans to pain & expense of a recall."
On Sunday, legislators took to the airwaves as they argued their cases for and against the immigration reform bill's passage at the House this time around.
House Speaker John Boehner broke his silence on the negotiations on Tuesday, and he is displeased with the progress.
