The Champions League gets back underway this week with the final leg of the quarterfinals. A few matches are pretty much settled while most have some interesting storylines that are worth considering.
How the mighty have fallen. After looking like Premier League title contenders for half of the 2013-14 season, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal is in danger of missing the Champions League for the first time under the manager's tenure. Arsenal, which has struggled in big games on the road this year, lost arguably its most important remaining match on Sunday in a 3-0 blowout by Everton.
For Snow the upcoming summer will be the franchise's final one in Nassau County as the Islanders are slated to leave for Brooklyn in 2015-16. So who can Snow turn to to fix his netminding situation? Here are some possibilities.
Opolais has four more performances of the role at the Met this season and there should be no doubt that like her sensational performance on Friday, she will only get better and better as the run progresses. Her Butterfly is arguably one of the best of modern times and will leave the viewer emotionally exhausted due to its visceral nature. Anthony Minghella's glorious production, which is usually one of the main draws for a revival of this wonderful work, is the icing on the cake.
Ultimately "Under the Skin" is a highly intricate experimental narrative from a visionary filmmaker with one of the best performances in recent memory by Scarlett Johansson. Those expecting more conventional fare will undoubtedly be put off, but those willing to try something new will come away altered and fascinated.

It was April 2013. Barcelona was kicking off against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena for the first leg of the Champions League semifinal and was fancied as the favorite to go through. The team had seemingly rebounded nicely from its Spanish league title loss to Real Madrid a year ago and was on pace to reclaim Spain's top prize. But then everything went south for Los Cules. In a matter of 90 minutes, Bayern Munich had given the world a lesson in how to take down Barcelona. The return home for the second leg was even more embarrassing as the team wound up losing 3-0 and ended up defeated 7-0 on aggregate. The aura of invincibility had been demolished completely and the beginning of the end of would begin. But what an end it would be.
The emergence of the comic book film over the last decade has resulted in a number of top quality films and an even greater number of mediocre and horrible ones. With the release of the solid "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" this weekend, Reel Salazars is looking to honor the best of the pack. Here are my top five favorite comic book films.
The Champions League got very interesting this week with a number of matchups remaining rather ambiguous at best. The 3-0 win for Real Madrid over Borussia Dortmund is no longer a contest at this point. Dortmund would need to win 4-0 or 5-1 in order to progress against the Spanish League giants; Madrid has conceded a total of seven goals in the entire tournament to date and looked completely unstoppable in the first leg. More to the point, Jurgen Klopp's troops looked lost for answers and rarely produced any scoring chances against Madrid.
Of all the matchups in the Champions League quarterfinals, none had less suspense than the one between Bayern Munich and Manchester United. On one hand, you have the best team in the world playing at its peak. On the other hand you have a mediocre side that is enduring a nightmare season under a manager that is unlikely to be on the bench this summer. But after 90 minutes, this may be the most interesting tie of all. Barcelona and Atletico are knotted at one apiece as well, but those two sides always prove to be evenly paired. However, this match could still go either way in the second leg.
