Two defensive players from San Antonio's John Jay High School targeted a referee Friday night, earning immediate ejections, indefinite suspensions, and the possibility of criminal charges.
Video shows the referee lined up on the defensive side opposite the quarterback as one defensive back spears him from behind, causing his head to snap back. The other player then lowers his shoulders and dives into the fallen official.
"This is disturbing," Northside Independent School District spokesman Pascual Gonzalez said in an official statement. "It is not the sportsmanlike behavior that we teach our students. We are cooperating fully with the University Interscholastic League with this investigation."

While cause for their attack is unknown, some believe it's connected to ejections of two John Jay players moments earlier. The Police Department in Marble Hills, Texas noted several different angles of the attack are available and suggested none indicate this was an accident.
The school district will elaborate on their statement Tuesday when school reopens after the Labor Day weekend.
Video of the attack, which has already garnered over six million views, can be seen below.
