Oscar 2014 Ceremony: Idina Menzel to Perform 'Let It Go' From 'Frozen'

Idina Menzel will perform at the Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the Tony Award-winning singer, songwriter and actress Idina Menzel will, for the first time, perform the Oscar nominated song "Let it Go."

The song "Let it Go" was written by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez for "Frozen," and is nominated for Original Song alongside "Happy" from "Despicable Me 2," "Ordinary Love" from "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," and "The Moon Song" from "Her."

Menzel is the second artist to be announced as a performer at the Oscars. Previously, Pharrell Williams was announced to perform the song "Happy." U2 and Karen O are also expected to perform their nominated songs as well.

Menzel won a Tony Award for her performance as Elphaba in the original Broadway production of "Wicked." She received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut in "Rent" and earned a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in Manhattan Theater Club's off-Broadway musical "The Wild Party." In March Menzel will star in "If/Then," a new Broadway musical about a woman moving back to New York City for a fresh start. In addition to "Frozen," in which she voices the character of Elsa, Menzel's film roles include "Enchanted," "Ask the Dust" and "Rent."

The Academy Awards will be televised on ABC Television Network and will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres. The ceremony will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron and will air on March 2 with nine films competing for Best Picture including "12 Years a Slave," "American Hustle" and "Gravity."
